out. the driver tried numerous times, but the public transport vehicle only gave several sputters and jolts. and since the disabled streetcar was unable to move, it was blocking the streetcar route, meaning it was impossible for me to just hop onto the next one. five were waiting behind the broken down streetcar when i decided to walk the ten blocks to my house. it was dark and 9:00pm and you just kinda take everything in. from the GO train rumbling below you to the woman who just shrieked in front of you cause her trolley with her tiny white yorkie fell to the ground, missing you by (those mosquitos...)
now people stare at me on the street cause of all my scabs/cuts/scrapes. but thats ok cause it was all worth it. I also got stung for the first time in my life at BC: by three wasps from a wasp nest that we came across. we actually knew it was there but couldn't remember when the detour started. I was the only one of our group of 14 to get stung except for this guy from Holland who got stung under his eye. ouch. I got one on my left index finger, left thigh and left ankle. my finger swelled up but the other stings were fine. I was pretty lucky I think cause they're supposed to stay swelled up for a few days and itch for a week or something? They all disappeared by the end of the night and didn't itch at all. people couldn't even tell where they were. now, I miss LEAP like crazy!

bises

- emily

heading to British Columbia...

gonna leave in about 5 hours, so I'm gonna get some sleep. Which means I'm going to fly to Vancouver by myself. I'm actually mildly excited about that cause its gonna be super cool. I've only flown like five times in my life and all of them was with my parents or relative. But then I have to bus to Powell River. I could just take a plane from Toronto to Powell River though...I have to buy hiking boots, water shoes (thats seriously what it says) and stuff sacs (have no idea what that is) Today, Alyssa and I went to Canada's Wonderland which had been bought by Cedar Fairs. So now all the rides are renamed and tbh, the names are really bad and we all know that everyone is just gonna call the rides by their old names. There wasn't a lot of people in the park because most people were still in school. We ended up going on rides like five times without getting off (the people didn't care cause there weren't a lot of people anyways) During lunch, I bought poutine and right when I am about to set it on the table, it flips and all the fries fall onto it. I cleaned it up of course but more than half had to go in the garbage. It started raining and we were soaked already from all the water rides. We were tired and were waiting to be picked up by Alyssa's mom at the Macs. I was hungry so I got two hot dogs (which cost $2, but one hot dog costs $6 in wonderland). We get in her car and because the traffic is bad, we go to Vaughn Mills until it gets better. We go to the food court and get pizza, new york fries and laura secord ice cream and chocolate. On the way back, I fell asleep while listening to some really good indian music (even though I had no idea what they said cause I'm not indian). I get dropped off at Sheppard station and its raining and extremely windy (not a good combination). I sleep and tremble (cause I was so cold) for the subway ride back. SO EXCITED FOR LEAP!!

bises

- emily

p.s exams are over! now I just have to put off final day when we get our exams back...

LUMINATO: Cirque du Soleil

I LOVE CIRQUE DU SOLEIL (its Circus of the Sun in French). Today was the first time I saw them live though. Today is the last day of the Luminato Festival in Toronto (which features Cirque du Soleil) and its also the finale of the performances of Cirque du Soleil. There was a tight - rope walker who tried to do a backwards filp on the rope but failed twice. On the third try, he got it though. There was also a toy soldier who basically hosted the show. He let the performers know when to come on and stuff and he would dust the set lol. After, there were two girls who used a square - based pyramid as their jungle gym. There were also two guys who used bungee ropes to launch themselves into the air and play a percussion set in mid - air. of course, they did filps and handstands while they did it. Not all the acts used equipment and stuff though. There was a guy and a girl who did flips and stuff all with their body. After, there were two bald guys who used these ropes hanging from the stage to do all kinds of tricks. The woman beside me said, "Are those two brothers? They must be right? They both have creepy heads." lol. The final act was these guys who climbed up these poles and would do tricks and stuff with them. In the beginning, one of the guys climbed up and fell from up high and the whole crowd gasped cause we thought he was gonna fall onto the stage and break something. But, there was a trampoline and he bounced right back. They did a lot of stuff with the trampoline. And like all Cirque du Soleil shows, this was nothing less than spectacular. They are so good! They are so different from all the other aerobatics shows because everything they do is art. From the ridiculous makeup they wear to the beautiful figures that they make with their bodies, its all art. Their costumes are out of this world, so elaborate and detailed and the performers are always so into it. Cirque du Soleil music is practically always live with singer and drummers. By the way, did I mention that I LOVE Cirque du Soleil music? It just makes you feel good. Cirque du Soleil is indescribable, its so incredible!

bises

- emily

p.s one exam to go! and its math, so no worries = )

p.p.s this one guy spellled calculator as calculater lol

usain bolt!

Usain Bolt came to the University of Toronto's Varsity Stadium today. to run. I laughed at some of the more emotional scenes. Emily Rossum plays Christine and she is super pretty. They also changed actors for the Phantom in between scenes lol. The special effects were really good, but the directors really contorted the book. There was not as much action and fighing and intensity as described in the book. I also didn't really like the ending, cause there was no real satisfying conclusion. I don't like endings that keep you wondering XD Anyways, back to the subject of this blog title. I have a history exam tomorrow and I am not as nervous as I should be, which is weird. Then the day after that, I have my science exam in the morning and on Friday I have the two hardest exams back to back: Spanish and French. It's pretty easy to get them mixed up since we learned in Spanish the equivalent of what we learned in French since grade four. My math exam however, is not till next week which kinda makes me mad because its the easiest exam and they just HAVE to put it last. Apparently, the S5s got their open book biology exam last year last too. I can see where they're coming from though if they want us to just get it over with and not worry about it so much as to divert our attention away from our other exams. There is this program in British Columbia that I really wanna get into. Its called LEAP (Leadership Ecology Adventure Program) and its free of charge but you have to figure out how to get to Powell River, B.C by yourself. So technically, its like 600 bucks for me to go. you earn four high school credits though and it sounds super fun. I also kinda wanna fly over Canada by myself for the first time. I just heard about it last week and found out that final decisions had to be made within the week! Its a rollover application so even is it says June 20th, what they mean is "if we get good applications, we will not accept anymore." LEAP A is already full and there are a limited number of spots for LEAP B (I can only go to this one cause A conflicts with some plans and volunteering). Mkay, so I only got to mail it today and its max 4 business days to B.C which means that its gonna get there on MONDAY. instead of Friday. So if I just mailed it yesterday...URGH. WHY DIDN'T I MAIL IT YESTERDAY!? I go there and after 30 minutes of deliberation, I decide to mail it Xpresspost (fancy smancy name). It's gonna get there two business days earlier and how much did it cost? 14 BUCKS!! it takes 54 CENTS to mail it two days later and 14 BUCKS to mail it two days earlier!? this must be how Canada Post gets their money...it better get there on time... it better be there TOMORROW!

bises

- emily

p.s I hope the ppl see how many Xpresspost stickers are on my envelope and will know how badly I want this.
p.p.s House Island Day happened last Friday, super chill, pictures to come : )
p.p.p.s the envelope was literally covered with stickers no jks.

rock on!

so summer is coming up (or is it here already?) which means...CONCERTS AND TOURS! *cheers*. so theres a concert and tour that I really wanna go to. The concert is at Canada's Wonderland and the name is ridiculously cheesy. It's called "Wonder Jam 2009". But who cares, it's apparently a family thing anyways. The point is, it features...*goes and checks*..."performances by MercyMe, Relient K, Thousand Foot Krutch, Hawk Nelson, Hello Kelly, comedian Leland Klassen, and guest speakers AATalks." I don't know who some of them are, but Relient K is playing and I've never seen them live and they don't come to Toronto that often. And Thousand Foot Krutch is ok. Its on June 27th. Warped Tour is coming to Toronto on July the 10th at Arrow Hall (which is in Mississauga). I've never been to one of these things before so it'll be really cool. I'm so excited to see Silverstein! and We the Kings, 3OH!3, Anti - Flag, NOFX, LIGHTS, The Maine, The White Tie Affair, Escape the Fate, Less than Jake and Hello Beautiful. This guy was talking to his friend and he was telling him that he was going to sing for his girlfriend that night. His friend said "What? Did you cheat on her or something?" haha. Well today, my clothes were hanging on the balcony to dry and the wind blew one of my shirts off the hanger and proceeded to drop (or blow in the wind slowly) 20 stories onto the heavy traffic below. Luckily, it did not land on the road, where 50 cars would've run over it. But, it fell right on the streetcar tracks. I had to run downstairs and get it. The shirt wasn't torn or anything = ) There was a storm today too. It was nice and sunny outside and then it was dark and cloudy. Like as if it was night - time in the winter. Thunder and lightning and lots of blowing rain. And then after 20 minutes it stopped and big beautiful rainbow appeared! Oh, and it was sunny again.

bises

- emily

the crazies

On Tuesday, I was going to take the streetcar from Union Station only to find that the platform is closed and I have to take a shuttlebus instead outside on Front St. I walk outside and get on the bus only to realize that I didn't get a transfer because I usually don't have to for the streetcar. The driver gives me a warning but lets me on. Since the bus doesn't turn up Spadina, I am forced to get off at about three blocks before my building. The thing is, the whole three blocks isn't made for pedestrians with two highway exits and two roads merging into one. Seeing a green light, I cross the street to the other side, thinking that I might as well cross now than later. Upon getting to the other side, I am confronted by a sign demanding that pedestrians cross on the other side of the street. After waiting for five more minutes to cross back, (its on of those traffic lights where every turn lane gets time to turn) I keep on going and jaywalk to a sidewalk. Upon reaching the intersection in front of my building, the same sign shows up again. I end up walking three times around when I could've just walked one time. Inside the building, I remember that I left my keys at home in the morning. Oh yeah, and it was also raining. Anyways, I had my french oral exam today and I think I did ok except maybe I paused too much for one of the questions. My computer is being crazy. Whenever I place my mouse over a link, it automatically clicks it for me. and when my intention is to click something, it double clicks it and opens two windows for me. Or if I want to close a window, it closes multiple windows for me. Basically, it is overdoing everything. I had raspberry pomegranate frozen yogurt at Ce Fiore today and it was delicious. I kept on thinking that it said UNO - OFSAA but it's UN - OFSAA. go figure. I wanted to make it for OFSAA so bad this school year cause I always make it to cities, but never OFSAA. its about time...some kind of bird just landed on my balcony with a bug sticking out of its mouth. poor bug. but that would mean a starving bird. I also made my first paper airplane today and during french, all we did was make paper airplanes and throw them out the window onto Bloor Street. Here is a joke from a blog I was reading that I thought was funny (its not meant to be offensive or anything):

Q: How many kids with A.D.D. does it take to change a light-bulb?
A: Let’s ride bikes!

if you still don't get the joke, it might be because you don't know what A.D.D stands for: attention deficit disorder. it means that your attention span is very short.

*bises (if you don't know what this means, look it up in the french dictionary, or you can just read below)

- emily

*french word, informal way to sign off letters, means kisses or xo
-- > I know, I'll think of something better later

you're reading MY blog!?

first post!! yay...so in case you're wondering why on earth I would start a blog...I dunno.
